Shelby Jean (Baer) Hooten left this world for her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 peacefully at her residence.
Shelby was born on April 6, 1938 in Wasson to the late Kenneth C. and Dollie Mae (Christian) Baer.
Shelby was married to Harold "Rusty" Hooten on August 27, 1985 and he preceded her in death on December 24, 1996. Never had anyone adored her the way her Rusty did, and she loved and cherished him until her last breath.
Shelby is survived by a Brother J.D. (Donna) Baer of Galatia. Her nieces Kristina Garrison (Ray Quitugua) of Harrisburg, Jill Lyons of Harrisburg, and Jonna Hale of Harrisburg. Nephews Kenneth (Cindi) Baer of Las Vegas, John (Carrie) Baer of Carrier Mills, Great Nieces Tristyn Grounds (Brock Bertling) of Carbondale, Kaitlyn (Tim) Brown of Harrisburg. Great nephews Jacob Garrison of Harrisburg, Kyle McGhee Jr. of Harrisburg, and Elijah McGhee of Harrisburg. Many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shelby was preceded in death by a sister Barbara McGhee, a niece Kim Grounds, nephews Mike Baer and Kyle McGhee, and great niece Michaella Grounds.
Shelby Jean was known to her family for many things, but she was most known for loving all of them fiercely and unconditionally. A straight shooter with the biggest heart, she was never more than a phone call away. From singing Karaoke with her nieces, bingo, Yahtzee, a million Christmas and holiday memories, and her ability to whistle loud enough you could hear her a mile away.... she was the anchor for her family.
A memorial service will held at 2 PM, Sunday, October 24, 2020 at Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate.
