Rick J. Lane, 68, of Harrisburg, passed away at 3:33 PM, Monday, February 14, 2022 at his farm in Pope County.
Rick was born on September 29, 1953 in Harrisburg to John Homer and Rita Lane. He married Sherrie Lynn Foreman on July 16, 1978 and she survives. Rick graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1971, and the University of Illinois in 1975 with a degree in finance and a minor in Latin. He served as the president of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Rick was a co-owner of Harrisburg Dairy Queen, in 1982 he was the co-owner of Periwinkles, #10 Cherry Street on Poplar Street. He and his wife Sherrie established Lane Erectors, Inc., also in 1982. Three beautiful boys later, Paul Foreman Lane, John Ross Lane and Ricky Joe Lane, Rick’s business ventures continued; Mine Recovery Services, Exclusive Car Care, Energy Plus Consulting, West End Landfill and Bulldog Systems, Inc. His work included traveling to Utah, Colorado, Delaware and south to Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Indiana, Alabama and Missouri. Rick served on the board of directors at Bank South and Old National Bank. He served one term on the Saline County Board on the insurance committee and served as a Precinct Committeeman.
Rick is survived by his wife, Sherrie, three sons, Paul, Ross (Rebecca) and Joe (Marcella); mother, Rita Lane; sisters, Nannette Franks; Juana (Gordon) Beal; Angi (Tim) Behme; sisters-in-law, Kristie Thompson; Cathy (David) Brown; secretary of 33 years, Patti Evans;
Rick is and always has been surrounded by a host of angels, 18 living nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends. Sincerest love and appreciation to the countless lives that are and continue to be a part of our hearts and our lives.
Funeral services for Rick J. Lane will be held at 2 PM, Friday, February 18, 2022 at Dorrisville Baptist Church Worship Center in Harrisburg. Rev. Dewayne Taylor will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 2 PM, Friday, February 18, 2022 at Dorrisville Baptist Church Worship Center in Harrisburg.
