Lonnie E. Easley, age 72, of Galatia, passed away at 12:51 PM, Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
Lonnie was born on October 4, 1947 in Salem, Illinois to the late William and Katheryn (Redferin) Easley. On September 11, 2000, he married Marce Trusty and she survives in Galatia. Lonnie served his country in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1974. He served in Vietnam for 1 year, 8 months and 1 day. Lonnie formerly was the pastor at Sulpher Springs Church near Golconda. Lonnie was a devout Christian. His favorite past time was sharing the Gospel, reaching people for Christ. He was also a lifetime member of American Legion in Salem, Illinois, and he enjoyed banjo music.
In addition to his wife, Marce, Lonnie is survived by his service dog, Anna; three sons, Derek Logsdon and wife Sandi of Valparaiso, Indiana; James "Jamie" Stewart and wife Cyndi of Galatia; Scotty Stewart and wife Amanda of Valparaiso, Indiana; ten grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Linda Whipple.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Rev. Mike Weaver will officiate and burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, near Thompsonville. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM, Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Reed Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
