Obituary

    Charles Henry Yarber, age 80, of Creal Springs, passed away at 4:10 AM, Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at Carrier Mills Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

    Charles Henry Yarber, born September 3, 1939, is the 2nd son of James Luther Yarber and Anna Louise Burns.  His parents were both from Harrisburg.  Charles graduated from Harrisburg Township High School in 1958 and moved to Gary Indiana shortly thereafter.  He was drafted by the Army in 1962 and served at San Antonio TX where he married and had three children, Cindy (Ortiz) and husband Homer of Aransas Pass, Texas , Mike Yarber of Eldorado, Illinois and Mark Yarber of San Antonio, Texas all whom survive.
    

    He is also survived by his wife Hilda Beal Yarber, of Harrisburg, ; six grandchildren:  Anthony Dersch, Drew Yarber, Melanie Irizarry, Brandon Beal, Bryce Beal, and Breanna Beal; siblings, Gertie Yarber Pittman of Robards, Kentucky; James Yarber of Morganfield, Kentucky; Don Yarber of Morganfield, Kentucky;  Reba Yarber Rogers of Grants Pass, Oregon; and Marialice Yarber Thomason of Carrier Mills, Illinois and a step-son, Harold "Tink" Beal and wife Tonya of Harrisburg, Illinois.                                                                                                                  He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Sarah Yarber; and siblings, Delbert Yarber, Kathleen Yarber Badenhoop, Cecil Warden "Bob" Yarber, Joseph William Yarber, Robert Eugene Burns, and Jerry Lindle Yarber.  Two sisters, Ruby and Daisy died in childhood.
    

    Charles was retired from the Army and from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a correctional officer 3.  He was a member of Pentecostals of Southern Illinois in West Frankfort, Illinois and he loved  baseball, golf, fishing,  hunting, singing and writing poetry.  It has been said that Charles made the best deer jerky.  Charles was a very caring and loving person and he will be greatly missed.                                                                                                                                 

    We would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Carrier Mills Nursing & Rehab and Hospice of Southern Illinois for the wonderful care provided to Charles.                                             

    Private family graveside services will be held. A memorial service will be held at a later date when the restrictions on gathering are lifted.
