Doris Pigg, age 87, of Harrisburg, passed away at 8:30 PM, Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana surrounded by her family.
Doris was born on September 5, 1932 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Chester Arthur and Rosa Carolina (Bachelor) Buttrey. She married Robert M. Pigg on September 15, 1950 and he survives in Harrisburg. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked part time for Sears and H & R Block and she served as an election clerk. She was a long time member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband Robert, Doris is survived by four children, Robert Pigg and wife Sandy of Benton, Illinois; Alan Pigg and wife Margaret of Anna, Illinois; Connie Nolen and husband Kenny of Harrisburg, Illinois; and Richard Pigg and wife Elizabeth of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren, Lori Ann Tedeschi and husband Tom of Benton, Illinois; B.J. Pigg and wife Starla of Galatia, Illinois; Adam Nolen and wife Sara of Evansville, Indiana; Kaci Nolen of Calvert City, Kentucky; Jennifer Eastman and husband Adam of Anna, Illinois; Christopher Pigg and wife Nichole of St. James, Missouri; Ben Pigg and wife Jill of Carbondale, Illinois; Jason Pigg and wife Jessica of Fairbanks, Alaska; Autumn Watson and husband Josh of Marion, Illinois; nineteen great grandchildren; sister, Margie Oxford and husband Jerry of Indianapolis, Indiana; and brother, Jack Buttrey of Dayton, Ohio.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Jimmy Buttrey.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Monday, January 13, 2020 at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church. Rev. Billy Dye, Jr. will officiate and burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM, Monday, January 13, 2020 at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to McKinley Avenue Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
