Obituary

     Peggy Sue “Susie” Stanfield, age 74, formally of Rosiclare, Illinois passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Carrier Mills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carrier Mills, Illinois.  She was born August 21, 1947 in rural Hardin County to Jeff and Louise Wheatcroft.  She married Joey Stanfield on June 25, 2005 and he survives.

     Also surviving are her son, Tim and Angie Belford of Goreville, Illinois; daughter, Rachael Belford of Port Orange, Florida; stepson, Joey Stanfield, Jr. of Walterboro, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Leah Patton of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Lauryn and Kristen King of Lynchburg, Virginia, Aidan Belford of Goreville, Illinois and Sherri and Trenton Pulley of Marion, Illinois; two great grandchildren, Jack King of Lynchburg, Virginia and Natalie Pulley of Marion, Illinois; one brother, Jimmy and Melody Wheatcroft of Harrisburg, Illinois; two sisters, Janet and Larry Jackson of Carrier Mills, Illinois and Shirley and JC Schutt of Herod, Illinois; mother-in-law Mary Grace Robertson of Walterboro, South Carolina and several nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Joyce Owens and Helen Wheatcroft.

     Susie was a long time resident of Hardin County and graduated from Rosiclare High School.  She went on to work for the Rosiclare/Hardin County School District for many years as a secretary, retiring in 2005.  After retiring she moved to Walterboro, South Carolina and returned to the local area in the last few years.

     She loved reading, spending time with her family and having her beloved pet chihuahuas close by.  She also enjoyed to occasionally argue with CNN reporters especially if it involved presidential matters.

     Funeral services for Peggy Sue “Susie” Stanfield will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.  Rev. Ed Lafferty will officiate; burial will follow in Flourine Cemetery at Rosiclare.    Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 11 AM at Reed Funeral Chapel.   Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
