Obituary

      Paul Everett Oxford "Hunky", age 86 of Harrisburg, passed away at 5:42 AM, Friday, June 26, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family.

     Paul was born on August 12, 1933 in Hardin County to the late Roy E."Tobe" and Phebe (Hall) Oxford.  On May 29, 1954 he married Barbara Ann Wasson and she preceded him in death on April 30, 2016. Paul served his country in the United States Army in Korea where he was the head of his Motor Patrol. Following his military service he owned a service station in Elizabethtown, IL.  He then worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for the Local 318 Operating Engineers and also worked at Peabody’s Will Scarlet Mine.  He attended Bethesda Baptist Church, and he was a member of the Rosiclare Masonic Lodge # 1144 and the Cave-in-Rock Masonic Lodge #444.  He was a member of the Ainad Shrine Club of St. Louis, the American Legion of Elizabethtown, and the Model T Ford Club of America.  Paul was an avid antique car collector and restorer. He and Barbara went on numerous Model T tours across America.  Paul also enjoyed boating. He never met a stranger and he would help anyone in need.  He had a very caring and generous soul. Paul had a special name for each of his kids and grandkids.
     Paul is survived by four children, daughter, Diana Roberson and husband Sidney of Harrisburg; daughter, Mary Siemsglusz and husband Walter of Belleville; daughter, Cheryl Oxford of Harrisburg; son Robert "Bo" Oxford and wife Pamela of Harrisburg; fourteen grandchildren, Victoria Mitchell, Paul Roberson and wife Jessica; Jillian Burroughs and husband Jim, Whitney Vaughn and husband Kristopher; Westin Siemsglusz, Walter ‘Trey” Siemsglusz III, Joshua Gibbs and fiancé Sara, Krystal Pankey and husband Neal; Kimberly Gibbs, Jake Gibbs and wife Stacey; Robert Keith Patterson, Adam Jordan Smith and wife Gina; Ryan Oxford and wife Sara, and Kayla Dawn Oxford and fiancé Travis; twenty eight great grandchildren, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Janeine Mitchell; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Wasson and numerous nieces and nephews.
      Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Oxford, parents, "Tobe" and Phebe; daughter, Victoria Lynn Oxford; grandson, William Everett Siemsglusz; brother, Eugene Oxford; sister, Dorothy Harvey; sister, Imogene Cox; sister, Dorla Barnard; sister, Norma Rose; brother in infancy, Gordon Oxford; step father, Ezra Ledbetter and a special cousin, Randall "Buck" Oxford.
      Funeral services for Paul Everett Oxford will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Rev. Arthur Austin, Jr. will officiate and burial will follow in Rutherford Cemetery near Cave-in-Rock. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 8 PM, Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Masonic Rights will be done at 6:00 PM during Visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital or Hospice of Southern Illinois and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.      Condolences may be left for the family at his obituary page at www.reedfuneralchapel.com.
