Julie Anne McRoy, age 62, of Harrisburg passed away at 11:40 AM, surrounded by family and friends, Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Julie was born on April 30, 1960 in Eldorado, to the late Howard Eugene “Gene” and Marianne (Alexander) Lyon. She married Tim McRoy on November 26, 1989, and he survives.
Julie was the former owner/operator of Bride’s Boutique, and a teacher at Eldorado. Most recently she was a fourth-grade teacher at East Side School in Harrisburg where she positively influenced the lives of countless children and co-workers. She had recently retired and was looking forward to many adventures. Julie was a lifelong member of First Church of God, serving on the church council, school board of New Hope Christian Academy and Women of the Church of God. She was involved in the theatre events around Southern Illinois. She loved to travel with family and “The Besties”. She is dearly loved by her family and friends.
Julie is survived by her husband, Tim McRoy of Harrisburg; daughter, Andrea Craig and husband Jono of Springfield, Illinois; son, Aaron McRoy and fiancée Kailee Wollenman of Herrin, Illinois; son Alexander McRoy of Clearmont, Florida; three grandchildren, Bailee, Emersyn and Thayer; special niece, Elleyet Rose; brother, David Lyon and wife Lisa of Harrisburg; brother Toby Lyon and wife Shannon of Harrisburg; brother, Kenny Jenkins and wife Terri of Harrisburg; and her father-in-law, Donald McRoy of Marion.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Marianne Lyon and her mother-in-law, Shirley McRoy.
Funeral services for Julie McRoy will be held at 7 PM, Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at the First Church of God in Harrisburg. Alexander McRoy and Rev. Dan Masters will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3 PM – 7 PM at the First Church of God in Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God.
