Carrie Charline (Gibbons) Murrie

November 8, 1938 ~ May 30, 2022 (age 83)


     Carrie Charline Murrie, 83, of Harrisburg, passed away at 11:46 PM, Monday, May 30, 2022 at Harrisburg Medical Center under the care of hospice.

    Charline was born on November 8, 1938 in Harrisburg, to the late Charles “Red” and Helen (Hicks) Gibbons.  She married James Eldred Murrie on May 15, 1959 and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2012.  Charline was a lifelong member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church and sang in the Choir.

     Charline loved anything musical, singing with the Gibbons Sisters and traveling and singing with her sisters. She had a vast music box collection. Charline also enjoyed reading. She was a devoted mother, caregiver and provider. She would help anyone at anytime that she was able. Her family said that she put on smile on everyone’s face, especially at Saline Care and Fresenius Kidney care, where the staff was like family.

     Charline is survived by her daughter, Melanie Murrie of Harrisburg; son, Michael Murrie of Harrisburg; grand dog, Gizmo; and several nieces and nephews.

     Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Dale Gibbons; sister, Betty Katske; sister, Louise Van Deusen; sister, Martha Edwards; and brother, Sam Gibbons.

     Visitation will be Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 1 PM to 3 PM at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
