Obituary

   RESCHEDULED - Sunday, February 6, 2022   Service: 2 PM   Visitation: 1-2 PM

Betty Lou Golish, age 90, loving mother of four and adoring wife to Rudy Golish, went to be with the Lord Saturday January 29, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. The pillar of her family, she was a wonderful wife, homemaker, mother and nana.

She is survived by her children; Cheri Golish, Mark (Lisa) Golish, Lisa Johnson and Mike (Bonnie) Golish. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Krystal (Chris) Wilson, Joshua (Christine) Golish, Dylan Golish and Dalton Golish. Betty was also a beloved Nana to her great grandchildren; Ryan, Ethan, Bella, Abi, Gabby, Kayden, Grayson, Nolan and Allie. She was cherished by her entire family and also leaves behind a nephew, many nieces, cousins and friends, whom she all loved dearly.

Betty was preceded in death by; her sweet husband, Rudy; her parents, Freeman (Iva) Schwartz, a beloved son in law, Rodney Johnson; and her siblings, Patsy (Bill) Bishop and Charles ‘Bud’ (Frances) Schwartz.

During her long and wonderful life, Betty had many honorable accomplishments, however she was most proud of her family. Betty spent her early years as a homemaker taking care of her family and children. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly and spent much of her life making each and every single person that came into contact with her feel loved, appreciated and incredibly special. She knew no stranger and had the ability to just reach out and love those around her, she was like a second mother to many over the years.

She loved Jesus and showed His light and love to all around her. She spent years working in the nursery at her church, rocking babies and telling them stories from the Bible. She was a woman who found beauty in the simple pleasures of life; like watching TV with her family, having a good ‘sweet,’ drinking morning coffee and orange juice, doing puzzle books and taking time to go shopping and out to eat. Her infectious smile and laugh could change any mood and was a constant source of encouragement. Although she will be terribly missed, the legacy of love that she has instilled in those around her will live forever.

Visitation will be at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg Illinois from 1 PM - 2 PM Sunday February 6, 2022. The funeral service will begin right after visitation at 2 PM. Pastor Chris Wilson of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
