Wilma Nell Grable, age 91, of Harrisburg, passed away at 7:17 AM, Friday, May 3, 2019 at her residence. Wilma was born on July 3, 1927 at the farmstead of her parents, Edward Hugh Jackson and Ollie (Aldridge) Jackson in Independence Township, Saline County, Illinois. She attended Duncan School in Independence Township then graduated from Harrisburg High School at the age of 16 in 1944. She married Billy Ray Grable in May of 1955.
She first went to work for the Bank of Harrisburg then worked as book keeper for CIPS, later Ameren Corp., retiring in 1992 after 35 years of service with the company. She has been a member of Dorrisville Baptist Church for many years, serving as their book keeper for many of those years.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Grable, her parents, E. Hugh Jackson and Ollie Jackson; her sister Bernedene (Jackson) Warren and her brother-in-law, William J. Warren, Sr.
She is survived by her nephews, William J. Warren, Jr. and his special friend Alice Alexander of Pensacola, FL and Philip M. Warren and his wife Kathleen (Grube) Warren of Hallandale Beach, FL their children Michael J. Warren and his daughter Aubrey Elizabeth Warren, and Jennifer Paige Warren and her daughter Savannah Paige Hicks. She is also survived by a special cousin, La Nell (Hathaway) Sittig and numerous close and special friends, to include Brent Gibbons, Terry and Linda Guest, Rita Lane, Jim Lindsey, Nancy McDermott, and Lodema Sisk. Wilma also had many, many other friends as well as nephews and nieces on her husband Billy Ray’s side of her family.
Wilma was a kind, loving and generous Christian lady and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Dorrisville Baptist Church, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM, followed by internment at Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
