Wanda Louise Perkins, age 85, of Harrisburg, passed away at 9:00 AM, Friday, August 24, 2018, at Eldorado Rehab and Healthcare Center.
Wanda was born on March 31, 1933 in Eldorado, to the late Charles Everett and Eunice (Hooper) Wilson. She married Denzil D. Perkins on September 23, 1950 and he preceded her in death on June 25, 1993. Wanda was a homemaker and worked off and on as a clerk for Weight Watchers. She was a member of Gaskins City Missionary Baptist Church. Wanda enjoyed sewing, playing pinochle and going to church.
Wanda is survived by two children, Denzil Perkins II and wife Debbie of Harrisburg, and Rhonda Tanner and husband Greg of Virginia Beach, Virginia; four grandchildren, Thomas Perkins and wife Toni of Marion, Illinois; Kari Arnett and husband Seth of Harrisburg; Byron Tanner of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Rhys Tanner of Virginia Beach, Virginia; three great grandchildren, Jordan Darnell, John Darnell III, and Tylar Duffee all of Harrisburg; brother, Charles Eugene Wilson and wife Linda of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Denzil; great-great granddaughter, Trinity Jewell; brother, Johnny Wilson; and sisters, Agnes Simmons and Pauline Mortise.
Graveside services will be held for Wanda Perkins at 12 PM, Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Rev. Mike Smith will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11:45 AM, Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois Blue East Team and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
