Letha Marie (Jackson) Evans

November 18, 1940 ~ April 22, 2019 (age 78)

Letha Marie Evans, age 78, from the Galatia/Harco community passed from this earthly world to her heavenly home on April 22, 2019.  She was born on November 18, 1940 to Jewel and Fern (Rose) Jackson.  After graduating from Galatia High School she married Larry Evans on May 1, 1959.

Letha worked at several jobs.  However, her greatest accomplishment was as a wife and mother.  Letha was always willing to drive a tractor, feed the animals, run for parts, take meals to the field, or whatever was needed.  She and Larry raised four children and her work did not stop after her children were raised.  She was involved in all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives.

Facebook quotes from family members reveal her impact on everyone’s lives:  “never more than a phone call away” “she is rejoicing with her Saviour” “love for her family that simply can’t be described” “willing to do whatever she could” and “she lived for God and her family.” Advice given to one of her grandson’s was to take care of your family because that is the most important thing.

Letha also was a faithful church member and even up until a few weeks before passing, she could be found working in the nursery every Sunday morning or organizing and cooking for the next church event or cleaning the church.  She was an example of a faithful servant.

We have no doubt that Letha is rejoicing on the other side with her parents Jewel and Fern (Rose)  Jackson, her in-laws, Wayne and Edith (Lorrison) Evans, and other family members that have preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Larry, and four children:  Steve (Debbie) Evans, David (Patty) Evans, Renee (Chuck) DePriest, and Laren (Rachael) Evans.

As well as fourteen grandchildren:  Josh Evans, Amanda Chester, Anna Kounce, Kate Hackbart, Addyson Evans, Kristen Gebbia, Kendra Gilley, Kyle DePriest, Kayla DePriest, Kristie Anderson, Ethan Evans, Isaac Evans, Avery Evans, and Wyatt Evans and eight great children.  She is also survived by siblings: Oral Jackson, Othner (Delia) Jackson, Loveta (Kirk) Burnett, and Loretta (Neal) Patterson and sister-in-law, Sharon (Ted) Warren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25th at Reed Funeral Chapel from 5-8 PM  Funeral Services will be officiated by Mark Hiltibidal and Chuck DePriest on Friday, April 26th at Reed Funeral Chapel at 1 PM.    Graveside service will be at Mt Moriah Cemetery following the service.
