Kermit Teddy Coffee, age 88, a resident of Harrisburg, passed away at 2:45 PM Tuesday July 24, 2018, at his residence. He was born November 29, 1929 in Eldorado to the late Bertis Lee and Lanta Velon (Turner) Coffee. Kermit married Betty Williams in 1948 and she preceded him in death in 2000. He then married Donna (Day) Williams and she survives.
Kermit was a member of Harrisburg First Christian Church where he was also an Elder. He worked at the General Assistance Office in Harrisburg, and was a former Saline County Board Chairman for many years.
Survivors include his wife Donna Coffee of Harrisburg; 3 children: Curtis Coffee and wife Sandy of Arcadia, FL; James Coffee and wife Susan of Barlett, IL; and Kelly Giffin and husband Jim of St. Elmo, IL. 3 stepchildren: Steve Williams and wife Debbie of Marion, IL; Vickie Penrod and husband Wendell of Benton, IL; and Debra K. Williams of Harrisburg. 6 grandchildren: Paul Coffee and wife Jennifer of Edwards, IL; Melissa Elder and husband Marc of Omaha, NE; Jamie Coffee and wife Jennifer of Texas; Ryan Coffee and wife Rachel of Chicago, IL; Andrew Maynor and wife Ashley of Alton, IL; Jacob Griffin with the US Army in Kansas. 3 step-grandchildren: Douglas Williams and wife Nikki of Harrisburg; Stephanie Smith and husband Brian of Marion, IL; and James Penrod of Indianapolis, IN. 8 great-grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren survive. He is also survived by special friends: Keith Dismuke, Raymond Brindley and Kathy and Walden Morris.
Service for Kermit will be 11:00 AM Monday July 30, 2018 at Reed Funeral with Rev. Biff Moore officiating. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 PM Sunday July 29, 2018 at Reed Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
