Carl Bernard "Cowboy" Beasley, age 66, a resident of Galatia, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 at his residence from complication of lung cancer.
He was born August 28, 1952 in Williamson County to the late William Leon Beasley and Doris Evelyn (Fox) Beasley. On April 12, 1972, he married Loretta Evetts and she survives. Carl was a coal miner for 17 and a half years with Peabody Coal's Will Scarlet Mine, a truck driver and a Clinic tech for Center Stone for 25 years. He was a Army veteran during the Vietnam era, a member of Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church. Carl was a member of UMWA, Laborers International Union Local 773. He loved fishing, the St. Louis Cardinals, and bull riding. Carl was quite the storyteller and his family was the most important thing to him.
In addition to his wife Loretta, Carl is survived by his children: Kelly Beasley and wife Cari of Salem, IL; Stephanie Beasley of Galatia; and Jeremy Beasley and wife Laci of Herrin, IL. 6 grandchildren: Jovani Conforti of Ft. Worth, TX; Jackeline Black and husband Curtis of Salem, IL; Zachary Steevens of Salem, IL; Brian Evilsizer, of Salem, IL; Rowdy Beasley and Baylee Beasley of Herrin, IL; 2 brothers: Andy Beasley of Pittsburg, IL; and Lynn Beasley of Tennessee.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, and sister: Betty Curry.
Services for Carl will be held at 1PM Friday, March 1, 2019 at Reed Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jeff Odum officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Poordo. Visitation will be 5 to 8 PM Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Reed Funeral Chapel. For those who wish, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
